Naretoi is the first ever Maasai-run wildlife conservancy. The land is a crucial wildlife corridor, elephant breeding ground and for centuries has been home to a Maasai community. If not for the recent international and local uprise and response, the land would have been lost forever.
There is a reciprocal nature to this conservancy— the community helps the land and in turn, the land helps the community. It is essentially a marriage between the community and land. It only seemed appropriate to base the logo design on a Maasai wedding necklace and traditional beadwork. It’s concentric circles represent the many layers of support. The type was treated to evoke the feeling of authority and sanctuary.
Roots took interest in the project and created branded t-shirts and leather pouches. Website launching soon.
